Social networking for Blue Nile

My personal project is Blue Nile Diamonds, one of the top online jewelry retailers.

Facebook & Visual Tool

Facebook allows Blue Nile to build fans group. Customers can communicate with each other and this company directly. It is a great place to host activities, gather people and to hear what people said about Blue Nile’s product and service. People love to show their engagement rings with their friends and public. Especially, Blue Nile allows customers to design their own ring. Thus, people want to show their custom rings even more. Blue Nile take photos of just-purchased rings at its local warehouse before they ship to customers. The idea is that these photos, which are displayed on the Blue Nile website, will give shoppers more real-world examples of what others have ordered. The company is also adding a Facebook “share” button to ring images to encourage people to post them to the popular social network.

Twitter

Currently, Blue Nile only has less than 1000 followers on twitter (It has more than 108,000 fans on facebook). I think BN should tweet more interesting news and stories on twitter. Meanwhile, try to follow its supplier, big customers and fans: talk to them, send private messages to them and create more interaction with them.

Home website- Social Commerce/ Blog/ discussion forms

Social Commerce is a tool integrates home page and social networking. It is a discussion tool that people can use while cruising a BN’s website. Shoppers can invite their friends via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter or instant message to consult with them while they’re considering an actual purchase. The tool also allows users to bring a customer service representative into the chat.

Home website’s Blog and discussions forms encourage people to write down their stories related to BN. People also can write down their questions at discussion forms and look for answers. People may link BN blog website to their own website to improve Blue Nile’s search result.
