Mobile Marketing for Running Evolution

My personal client is Running Evolution - a company that teaches running classes and has running groups, etc. Basically a running coach company. How my client would benefit from a mobile marketing campaign are:

1. Mobile App
Since the company is centered around learning to run faster, longer, better etc.; they could develop a free running app that their customers (or anyone else) could download and use to track runs. It would have to track the distance, average mile time, and maybe track progress over several weeks toward a specific goal (5K, 12K, Half or Full Marathon, etc). There would need to be a feature that makes it easy to post your runs on Facebook, Twitter, etc. There are already several running apps out there so they would have to make this one special by soliciting feedback on what makes a good running app. For example, the running app I use is fairly limited in functionality and doesn't track my improvement. It only tracks run by run.

The Running Evolution could track you progress towards a specific goal and could also feature nutrition suggestions, meal plans, etc. to help you meet your race goal. The app could e-mail you grocery lists on Sunday (or any day you choose) and e-mail daily meal plans based on the grocery list. It could also remind you via text message what workout you should do that day whether it be a run or strength training. It could be a personal trainer in an app but focused on a running goal rather than weight loss or general fitness.

2. QR Codes
Running evolution could benefit from QR codes by sponsoring local races of all distances. They could place a QR codes that leads you to the Running Evolution website and offer a discount on one of the various classes they offer. If Running Evolution ever puts on a race on their own, they could use QR codes to link to the sign up page so people could use their phones to sign up on the spot that they see the code (i.e. on a flyer or poster). If they make sign ups convenient, they would probably get more sign ups. The QR code could also link to the app they created.

As people are using their phones less as communication devices and more as personal assistants, Running Evolution could definitely benefit from using mobile marketing.
