Most Productive Social Networking Sites for JELD-WEN:

For an organization such as JELD-WEN, I believe the three most productive social networking sites would consist of Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.

Twitter: JELD-WEN is already making use of Twitter on a daily basis. Currently they are using this site for announcements and responses to inquiries. JELD-WEN also sponsors the PGA and several other major sporting associations around the world. Twitter has proved to be a great site for posting major updates related to these teams and events. I think this is especially important because they are providing followers with more than just sales related information. I believe that JELD-WEN can also use the feedback and responses from consumers to help focus product and customer service related goals.

YouTube: The process of installing doors and windows can be very confusing and difficult for the do-it-yourself crowd and for new contractors. JELD-WEN has begun posting very professional installation videos on YouTube with easy to follow instructions. While these videos might not have the exciting viral effect of some YouTube videos, they definitely offer usefulness to those in the industry. Furthermore, these videos draw positive attention to JELD-WEN by those searching the web for general instruction. I believe the continued use of this and other similar tools will help JELD-WEN spread the word about their attention to quality and customer service.

Flickr: Architects, designers, and builders are always looking for new and innovative ideas. JELD-WEN has done an excellent job of shooting photos of their products from all around the world. Often times, these photos are used in catalogs and marketing materials, but many of them are never seen by the public. I believe JELD-WEN could make valuable use of sites like Flickr to quickly upload and share these photos among other social sites on the web (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, and blogs). These photos would help generate buzz about exciting architectural ideas and also be of use to up and coming architects and designers. I think this would be a great way to get the JELD-WEN name out in the market in a positive manner.
