Best Social Networking Sites for a Wind Farm developer

For my client, a renewable energy development company the best social networking sites for marketing will be the facebook and twitter.

People are more likely to share values amongst close network of people rather than some random entities or business. As we have learned thus far from our marketing class, advertisement is less effective compared to word of mouth information transfers. Facebook is an online platform that allows people to share a wide range of information through individual's private social network, predominately comprised of friends, colleagues and family members. Using such platform that links private networks, a renewable energy company can promote its business objectives through marketing the cause of the business. For people to support renewable energy developments, the belief in valuing natural resources and preserving finite resources are very important. Therefore, through the chain of social network system in facebook, my client can market the "Green Energy" campaign and share valuable inforamtion relating to the cause, which eventually supports the business objectives of developing wind farms, solar farms, biomass plants and more. Basically, facebook can be used as a tool to spread the good word of "Green Energy" using individual's social networks.

Twitter is a great online platform that also reaches the similar audience as facebook except the system is based on sharing short, quick updates and messages. Since my client develops and works with projects of building and developing renewable energy plants and facilities, Twitter will be a very useful tool to share the construction and development activities of my client. In constructing and developing renewable energy plans and facilities, public approval and local permitting and licensing are very essential. For example, if my client wants to proceed with a construction of wind farm in the eastern WA area, my client will have to go through an extensive permitting and licensing procedure, which involves obtaining local residence approval. Also, even when the development site is approved, due to the project's scale in terms of construction, it is always nice to share the current activities with the local people as well as other interested parties. It is always nice to be updated on what is going around your local area as well as what renewable energy plants and facilities are being built, especially for those who care about the cause of saving the planet :) Twitter will provide a platform for my client to intimately connect with the general public by having its construction crew or employees to update the day to day activities on the plants and facilities and giving people an opportunity to be closely involved with the company's work.
