Social Networking and SWYFS

Southwest Youth and Family Services can use social network sites as powerful tools to help spread their message and grow their volunteer and donor network.

The best tool would likely be Facebook for this non-profit. As a community-driven organization, Facebook allows them to connect to their donors and volunteers and keep them abreast of any developments or volunteer opportunities. It also allows them to become "fans" of other similar organizations or corporations that might have similar goals, or have co-branding or cause-oriented opportunities with companies.

Facebook's strong growth with women would also allow SWYFS to connect with this segment, who are a strong demographic for the non-profit.

Sites that share media such as Youtube or Flickr might also be useful in sharing photos or videos of different projects that SWYFS supports, or photos of their volunteers in action. Encouraging volunteers to upload their own photos would also enable strong word of mouth opportunities for volunteers who share their media.
